Lois Mary Flewelling, 95, of Horton, KS, formerly of Holton, KS, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. She was born December 4, 1926 in Augusta, KS, the daughter of Forrest Clifton and Ethel May (Boucher) Broomfield.

Lois attended Augusta High School; later earning her GED. She worked for the United States Post Office as a mail sorter clerk; retiring after 20 years. She was also a farmwife, homemaker and waitress.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Holton, NARFE, Holton V.F.W. Auxiliary, Holton Hospital Auxiliary, Our Gang (bank travel group), Quilting Group, Widows Group and Classy Ladies.

Lois married George K. Flewelling on August 26, 1946 in Ft. Scott, KS; he preceded her in death in 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Ethel Broomfield; son, Allen D. Flewelling; grandson, Mike Flewelling; granddaughter, Kylie Salazar; great-grandchildren, Jordyn Fitzpatrick and Levi Lendermon; sister, Marjorie Broomfield and brother, Floyd Broomfield.

Survivors include her 4 sons, Kenneth Flewelling (Madeline) of Holton, KS, Robin Flewelling of Goff, KS, Dannen Flewelling of Stanton, KS, Dennis Flewelling (Joni) of Nebraska City, NE; 7 daughters, Carolyn Huguenin of Horton, KS, Kathryn Faulkner (James) of Warrensburg, MO, Lorraine Flewelling of Montrose, CO, Sherrill Flewelling of Holton, KS, Jill Flewelling of Holton, KS, Pamela Baum of Holton, KS, Sandra Flewelling of Holton, KS; sister, Helen Addington of Tulsa, OK; 26 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will follow at the Holton Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the funeral home.
