Sanford “Earl” Cordell, 89 of Soldier, KS passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at the Eastridge Nursing Home in Centralia, KS. He was born June 30, 1933 in Holly, CO the son of Sanford “Glenn” & Gladys (Hickman) Cordell.

Earl graduated from Soldier High School in 1951. After high school, Earl served in the United States Army from 1954-55. Earl returned home from the Army to work 10 years at Goodyear in Topeka, KS, while starting his families Dairy Farm in Soldier, KS which he and Frances would operate for over 54 years.

On August 29, 1952 Earl married his high school sweetheart Frances Barton in Holton, KS. They shared over 62 years of marriage before Frances passed away on September 3, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, William LeRoy Cordell, and a twin sister, Beryl Fisher.

Earl is survived by his daughter, Candace Thomas (Bob) of Topeka, KS; 3 sons, Lynn Cordell (Rita) of Holton, KS, Lyman Cordell (Julie) of Overland Park, KS and Larry Cordell (Jo) of Havensville, KS; 2 brothers, Lawrence Cordell (Kathy), and Elden Cordell; a sister, Althea Fordman; 8 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, 2022 at Soldier Cemetery. Earl will lie in state at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton on Saturday, August 13th & Sunday August 14th from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. both days.
