Carl R. Megenity, 93, Atchison, Kansas died Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Atchison Senior Village Nursing Center. Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Pastor Marty Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Monday, August 15, 2022 from 6:30 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church of the American Lung Association and may be left in care of the funeral home.

Carl was born May 11, 1929 in Topeka, Kansas the son of Carl B. and Zelma Jackson Megenity. He attended elementary school in Effingham, Kansas and graduated from the Frankfort High School in Frankfort, Kansas. Mr. Megenity was employed with the Kansas Power and Light Company in the gas department from 1953 until his retirement in 1991 as a service man. He and Shirley Schooler were united in marriage on February 6, 1954 in Atchison. Mrs. Megenity preceded him in death on September 26, 2014. Carl served in the United States Air Force from September 1948 until his honorable discharge in August 1952 having served in the 509th A E Squadron. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Pastors Adult Bible Class and formerly served his church as an usher.

Survivors include a son, Robert Gene Megenity, Atchison, KS; four daughters, Debbie Peters, Atchison, KS; Robin (Michael) Springstead, Atchison, KS; Carla (Allen) Wolfe, Atchison, KS; Julie (Nathan) Commings, Atchison, KS; a brother, Francis Megenity, Barnes, KS; ten grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Megenity; a great grandson, Alex Brown; a brother, Paul Leroy Megenity; and a sister, Marjorie Belveal.
