Larry W. Butner was born September 30, 1948 at Highland, Kansas. He passed away July 2nd, 2022 in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Larry was the middle child of Laurence and Opal Tilton Butner. After graduating from Horton High School, Larry went into the U.S. Army. He was a Vietnam veteran, discharged at the rank of private in December 1969. Upon his discharge he lived in Atchison prior to moving to Leavenworth to make his home.

Larry leaves behind a daughter Morgan Butner who lives in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. He has two brothers: Michael Butner from Kearney, Nebraska, and Richard Butner from Effingham, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Opal and Laurence (Jeff) Butner.

Larry loved to fish and listen to music. He never met anybody that he couldn’t get along with and was loved and will be missed by many.

Graveside inurnment service is planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Gazebo at the Highland Cemetery. Pastor Jerry Petering will officiate.

Military honors will be a courtesy of Dillon Bales American Legion Post in Highland and Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.
