Joyce Ann Richling, 87, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Maple Heights Nursing Center in Hiawatha, Kansas.

Joyce was born October 4, 1934 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of Jacob S. and Jennie E. Torkelson. She went to a one room country school through 4th grade before she and her mother moved to Horton where she continued her schooling.

She married Harold Leo Richling on October 8, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Everest, KS. To this union was born 10 children, Sharon (Marlin deceased) Sharon of Waverly, Kansas, David (Carol) Richling of Nunn, Colorado, James (Marcia) Richling of Horton, Kansas, Janice (Jerry) Sanders (deceased), Susan Richling of Eureka, Kansas, Karen Richling (deceased), Jeannie (Rick) Clouse of Horton, Kansas, Ginger (Evans) Woehlecke of Hiawatha, Kansas, Amy (Jeff) Nichols of Hiawatha, Kansas, Shelly (Michael) Mayfield of Topeka, Kansas, 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Joyce was a homemaker, a partner in Harold’s floor covering business and medical records clerk at Tri County Manor until her retirement at age 75. Joyce and Harold maintained their home, raised their family and ran their business on 3rd Ave West. Joyce later moved to Arbor Knoll in Horton. Joyce was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church and a member of St. Leo’s Altar Society.

She is also survived by her special friend Leslie Bartley. Preceding her in death was her husband, Hinky, the love of her life. Her sisters, Emma Galbraith, Milly Milburn and her brother Roy Torkelson. Two daughters, Karen Richling and Janice Sanders. A grandson, Nicholas Richling and her parents. Also preceding her in death were her dear friends Jim and Ginger Schuetz and Arlene Wilson. "Be Good Be Kind and You Will Always Be Happy."

A rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas where the family will greet friends following the rosary. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, September 12, 2022 at the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Horton, Kansas. Burial will follow at the St. Leo's Catholic Cemetery.
