Bonnie A. Purcell, 84, Atchison, Kansas, died Monday, September 12, 2022, at Atchison Senior Village, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Funeral Services will be Friday, September 16, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, with Fr. Jeremy Heppler, OSB, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 until services at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Atchison Senior Village and may be left in care of the funeral home. Bonnie was born June 30, 1938, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of Loren and Anna (Hembrough) Jones. She attended Central School in Atchison.

On June 19, 1954, She and Lawrence M. “Larry” Purcell were married in Atchison, Kansas. They were married 65 years, when Mr. Purcell would precede her in death on November 2, 2019.

Bonnie enjoyed her plants, cats and watching birds. If sports were on TV, she was probably enjoying it, whether it be KU Basketball, NASCAR or anything in between. When she helped her husband at the restaurant, she really enjoyed watching the boats on the river. Most of all she loved her family and being around her grandchildren.

Survivors include her three daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Kuhn, Atchison, KS, Debbie (Cary) Stone, Atchison, KS, Diane Dame, Atchison, KS, ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, a son, Mike Purcell, and two brothers, Loren Jones and Larry D. Jones.
