Rosemary Katherine Scher, 89, of Sabetha, Kansas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.

Rosemary was born on August 10, 1933, in Harper, Kansas, to Adam and Katherine (Vogel) Scher. She attended Harper Elementary School and graduated from Harper High School. For ten years, she was employed at the training center for Harper, Kingman, and Barber counties in Kansas.

On July 17, 1953, Rosemary professed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was received into full communion at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Argonia, Kansas. She lived in Liberty, Kentucky with her adopted brother, Jake Scher, for a time before moving to the Apostolic Christian Village Apartments where she enjoyed feeding the stray cats. At that time, she was also employed as a dining assistant at the Apostolic Christian Home.

On October 13, 2006, she was admitted to the nursing home where the staff became her dear friends and family. Rosemary always had a memorable story about her youth and often shared that she was a “Daddy’s girl.” For many years, she worshiped with the First Lutheran Church in Sabetha where she met many new friends.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents and her adopted brother. Survivors include a very special friend, Karonne Finger and her dog, Little Rosi; six second cousins; and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Rosemary will lie in state on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be beside her parents in the Harper Cemetery in Harper, Kansas.
