Thomas “Gary” Milroy, 82, of Winchester, died Monday, October 17, 2022 at F.W. Huston Senior Living Center in Winchester.

He was born August 6, 1940 at Quinter, KS, the son of Scott Walter and Edith Aliene McElroy Milroy.

He was a 1959 graduate of Winchester High School and he served in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Gary retired in 2004 after many years of working as an Inventory control and ordering clerk for the former Wickes Building Supply and Schmidt Lumber in Topeka.

He was an active member and former Deacon of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in Winchester. He was a member and Past Commander of  Davis-Gibson American Legion Post #387 in Winchester, a member and former secretary of Winchester Lions Club and a member and past president of The Winchester Housing Authority for 20 years. He also served many years on the Winchester-Wise Cemetery Board.

Gary enjoyed his community and was a member of the coffee club at Jae’s place and was a constant volunteer, always helping with any benefit event at school, church or in the community with his motto,  “Have Grill will Travel”.  He especially loved Christmas and would decorate for people to enjoy with as many lights as he could for many years.  
He was married to Bonnie Jo Allen on March 12, 1974 at Winchester, she survives at the home.  survivors include a son, Sean Briscoe, Albuquerque, NM, a grandson, Brandon Allen-Werner, Winchester, two sisters, Nellie Perry, Oskaloosa, JoAnne Adams, Oskaloosa, two brothers, Leland Milroy, Wellsville and Robert Milroy, Prairie Village. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Milroy.
Cremation Care is planned. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM, Friday, October 28, 2022 at The Reformed Presbyterian Church in Winchester. Inurnment will follow at Winchester-Wise Cemetery.
