Judith Ann "Judy" Fuemmeler
Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland
Bendena, KS

Judith Ann Fuemmeler, 41, of Bendena, KS passed into her eternal home in the morning hours of October 20, 2022 after a courageous nine month battle with cancer.

Judy was born in Atchison, KS on December 20, 1980 to Pamela Snodgrass (Otte) and Dennis Michael Snodgrass. Her parents later divorced and after Pamela remarried Jeff Oxley the family moved to Edgerton, KS where Judy attended school for the duration of her childhood. She came to faith in our Lord Jesus Christ at the age of eight after being invited to church by a friend. Judy had a strong faith in God her entire life. Her Christian influence was strong and as a result her entire family eventually began attending church and came to know the Lord. Along the way Judy helped to lead a number of others to faith in Christ including her husband Nick and her father-in-law, Bob. Judy's life was a portrait of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. She never had a harsh word to say about anyone, and always had a word of encouragement for anyone in need. She had a heart to serve others and was a great example of Christian love.

Judy graduated from Gardner-Edgerton High School in 1999 and earned her associates degree from Johnson County Community College in May of 2004. Judy worked as a librarian in both the public library system and as a school librarian and had a passion for the library. She served as the library director for both Herington Public Library and Doniphan County Libraries before choosing to step down to be a stay at home mother to her boys. Once her sons were both in school she had the opportunity to step back into the library and serve as the elementary librarian at Doniphan West Elementary School. She loved her work and in her time there she was universally loved and respected by both students and staff.

In December of 2001 she met her husband Nick Fuemmeler. They were married March 18, 2006 and moved to Bern, KS where Nick worked as a teacher and coach. They would move two more times, first to Herington, KS, and three years later to Bendena, KS, the community they would make their “forever home.” On September 22, 2013 they welcomed their first son, Steel Jackson Fuemmeler. Almost two years later, on September 2, 2015 they welcomed their second son Reeves Jason Fuemmeler. Judy’s family was the joy of her life and she was a wonderful mother and wife. She taught her boys to love the Lord and to be kind to others. More importantly, she modeled it for them every day.

Survivors include her husband Nick Fuemmeler, two sons Steel (9) and Reeves (7), grandfather Allan Otte, father Jeff Oxley and wife Sherri, biological father Michael Snodgrass, sister Nickie Birdsall and husband Todd, sister Jessi Oxley, sister Katy Oxley, brother Chris Snodgrass & wife Nicole and brother Noah Oxley, three nephews, Gavin Fuemmeler, Jaxton Fuemmeler, & Weston Fuemmeler and two nieces, Eva Fuemmeler & Makayla Mallon, and her mother-in-law Virginia Foley, and friends too numerous to count.

Preceding her in death were her mother Pamela Oxley (Otte), grandmother Ruth Otte, grandmother Lois Betts, Uncle Jay Otte, and Aunt Jennifer Otte.

A Celebration of Judy’s life is planned for 11 a.m. Monday, October 24, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland with Pastor Tim Champ officiating.  Interment will follow at Moray Cemetery, Bendena.

The family will meet from friends from  5 pm until 7 pm Sunday evening at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home.
