Markeeta Walder

Markeeta Ann Walder, 75 of Mayetta, KS passed away, Sunday, November 20, 2022 at the Kelly House of Meriden. She was born July 27, 1947, the daughter of Andrew and Phyllis (Green) Jenson. They proceeded her in death, as did her sister, Collette Schnackenberg in 2003.

Markeeta married Marion Lee Walder in Holton on Oct. 6, 1967. He survives, of the home. Other survivors include daughter, Barbara K. Hittle (Bill) of Mayetta, daughter, Lisa R. Walder, sons, Shane W. Walder (Melissa) and Matthew L. Walder (Pam), all of Topeka, KS and nine grandchildren; Garrett Schleif, Rebecca, Wyatt, Jill, Tenley, Heidi and Waylon Walder and Cheyenne and Dakota Hittle.

Markeeta graduated from Holton High School in 1965. She was a member of the Holton Christian Church where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of the International Order of the Eastern Star, Job- Daughters Bethel #65 and was an honorary queen in 1964. She was also a member of the Lincoln Social Club at Mayetta.

Markeeta was a devoted wife and mother and she enjoyed cooking, crafts and spending time with her family. In Markeeta- early years, she worked at the Big B Grocery Store and the Arcada Movie Theatre in Holton. She worked outside of the home as a speech teacher for the Prairie Band of Potawatomi Head Start and the State of Kansas, where she worked for the Department of Administration and then for the Secretary of the Kansas Department of Revenue, until she retired in 2013.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Markeeta will be cremated and her burial will take place at the Holton Cemetery at a later date. The family will greet friends 5:30-6:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Mercer Funeral in Holton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer- Association and sent in c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
