Gary L. Gibson, 71, of Horton, Kansas, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Amberwell Hospital in Hiawatha, Ks.

He was born January 19, 1951 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Lloyd C. Gibson and Cuma L. (Richardson) Johnston. Gary graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1970 and served in the Missouri Army National Guard from 1970 to 1991 retiring at the rank of Staff Sargent. He worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation and retired in 2006 after 35 years of faithful service. He was also a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of Shriners International.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Sheldon and Mark Gibson, and an infant sister.

He survived by his son, Gary L. Gibson II (Tammy), stepson, John M. Imlay (Katie), 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, numerous nieces & nephews, and caregivers Eileen Weathermon & Jon Begnaud.

Graveside services with full military honors will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Osborn, Mo. on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that a donation be made to Shriners Hospital for Children and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
