Janice “Jan” Thompson, 70, of Falls City, NE, passed away November 25, 2022 at Falls City. She was born October 4, 1952 at Ludington, MI to Andrew and Phyllis (Engman) Johnson.

She married James Fenimore on June 18, 1977 in Nebraska and they were divorced in 1999. She then married Steve Thompson on December 27, 2006 at Falls City.

Jan graduated from Northeast High School in Lincoln, NE in 1970 and then went on to graduate the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a teaching degree, later earning a masters degree from Kearney State College in 1982. She began her teaching career in Geneva, NE. She continued her teaching career throughout her life teaching in Niobrara, Superior, Falls City, and retired from teaching in Effingham, KS. She taught Middle and High School English and Grammar and was also a Speech and Drama coach for many years. When she retired, she taught G.E.D. courses in Falls City and also volunteered teaching English as a second language. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and refinishing items to sell in her space at Norma- Antique Mall. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Parish Circle, the church choir, the UMW, NEA and Retired Teachers Association.

Jan is survived by her husband, Steve of Falls City, children, Taylor Fenimore of Trophy Club, TX, Ross and his wife Brandy of Omaha, NE, step-daughters, Rachel Jackson and her husband Joe of Falls City, Roberta Geiger and her husband Kyle of Owensboro, KY, Michelle Easdale and her husband Kevin of New Market, MD, brothers, Paul Johnson and his wife Carol of Stuart, FL, Timothy Johnson and his wife Mary of Eden Prairie, MN, Thomas Johnson of Bloomington, MN and eleven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Philip and Daniel Johnson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church.
