Marcello " Bernie" Monares

Marcello "Bernie" Monares, 65, of Muscotah, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at his home in Muscotah, Kansas.

He was born on February 28, 1957 in Lordsburg, New Mexico the son of Alberto and Manuela Gandara Monares. He attended school in Duncan, Arizona and then went on to serve in the U.S. Marines in 1974 to 1978. Marcello served most of his time stationed in Hawaii. After receiving his honorable discharge he came home to California to work for his brother-in-law, making skate boards and later moved to Oregon in 1979 and started working as a machinist for years. He also worked at the community service as a correctional officer. He then moved to Horton and worked for the Golden Eagle Casino.

Marcello loved to restore antique furniture as a hobby, he loved camping, coaching baseball for his children, hunting. He also loved reading his Louis Lamour and watching western movies with John Wayne.

Marcello is survived by his children, Shane, Sarah and Ricky; two sisters, brother and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Marcello received Jesus as his lord and savior and baptized in the Muscotah United Church. "Semper Fi".

A celebration of life service will be held at the Muscotah United Church in Muscotah, Kansas at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Inurnment will be at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. A special message may be sent to the family at www.dishon-maple-chaney.com
