Mary Lou Nolte

Mary Lou Nolte, 89, of Seneca lost her battle against cancer on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Crestview Nursing and Residential Living in Seneca.

Mary Lou was born on February 16, 1933, in Kelly, Kansas to Theodore and Lenora Hastert Gellhaus. She attended school at St. Bede- School in Kelly and graduated in 1951.

On June 17, 1952, Mary Lou married Kenneth A. Nolte at St. Bede- Catholic Church in Kelly, they couple made their home in Seneca. Mary Lou became a widow at the age of 51, after 31 years of marriage. It seems fitting that after 38 years apart that the couple was reunited on Valentine- Day.

Mary Lou was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She never shied away from work; and taking care of those she loved. Jan and Paul Bergman hired Mary Lou at Crestview Manor in October 1984. Mary Lou continued to work at Crestview as the Housekeeping Supervisor thru all four of Crestview- owners, retiring in 2019.

Mary Lou loved to bake, garden, and raising flowers. Mary Lou took great solace in prayer and it was important part of her life. She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and the Altar Society in Seneca.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth on May 22, 1984; her parents; and her sisters, Rita Henry and Luella Wessel.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Catherin (Michael) Fuhrmann of Aubrey, Texas, Patricia Nolte of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, Dianne (Jim) Shump of Seneca, James Nolte of Seneca, Linda Nolte of Seneca, Steven (Lea Anne) Nolte of Seneca and Rosemary (Clem) Koch of Baileyville.

A rosary will be prayed at 7 PM on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials can be given in Mary Lou- memory to Sts. Peter and Paul Church and/or the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital Building Fund, sent in care of the family.
