Patrick Leeper

Patrick Eugene Leeper, 79, of White Cloud, KS, passed peacefully on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Maple Heights Nursing Home, Hiawatha.

Patrick was born August 9, 1943 at Wahoo, Nebraska to the late Samuel and Mary Ratigan Leeper. He was raised in the Rulo, Nebraska area prior to meeting the love of his life Kathy Edie.

Patrick and Kathy were united in marriage January 29, 1965 in Falls City, Nebraska. She survives. They were proud parents of a daughter Patricia Leeper of Hiawatha, KS, three sons: Dennis Leeper of Hiawatha, Donnie Leeper of Daytona, FL and Danny Leeper of St. Joseph, MO. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren: Rachel (David Crawley) of Horton, Samantha (Robert) Reynolds of Hiawatha, I’Quajanae (Javon) Henderson of Hiawatha, I’Quaveayre (Bubba) Jackson of White Cloud, Robert Leeper of Topeka Susan (Erick) Oreskovich of Beatrice, NE, Destiny Simpson of Fairview, KS, Jayden Behrends of Ashland, NE, Colby Elms of Falls City, NE, Justin (Rachel) Leeper of Lincoln, NE, Taylor Wild of St. Joseph, MO, Kelsey (Travis) Lock of Milligan, NE, Bruce Leeper of St. Joseph, MO, and Thatcher Leeper of St. Joseph. MO, and 36 great grandchildren.

Patrick was a member of White Cloud Christian Church where he attended until moving to Hiawatha.

He enjoyed building, listening to the news, and being a farmhand for Joe Gormley for many years and becoming good friends with him. He enjoyed their little farm in White Cloud where he raised chickens, rabbits, and Bud the Emu. In his later years Patrick enjoyed his cat Bouncer and playing bingo at the nursing homes where he lived.

Patrick lived at Mission Village Living Center where he was provided excellent care and was loved by many before moving to Maple Heights where he was lovingly cared for his last few months. He last few days were spent being cared for by Maple Heights staff and St. Croix Hospice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Andrea Elms and 5 unborn great-grandchildren.

Services are planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, February 23, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha. Tony French will officiate. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery, White Cloud.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Wednesday where the family will meet from 5 until 7 p.m.
