Annalene " Annie" Haverkamp

Annalene (Annie) Haverkamp passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Nemaha Valley Community Hospital.

Annie was born on May 11, 1930, daughter of Ambrose and Agnes Heinen Wilhelm on a farm North of Kelly, KS. She attended school in Kelly, KS and Saint Benedict, Ks where she graduated from High School in 1947.

On October 18, 1949 she married Melvin H Haverkamp at the St Mary- Church in Saint Benedict, Ks She had various jobs working in Seneca. They purchased the Axtell grocery store in 1951 and ran it until 1957. After working various other jobs in Seneca, they started the Haverkamp Liquor & Mixer from 1971 until 1993. In 1994 Annie and Carol Massieon started the Sunflower Patch and operated until Annie retired in 2005.

Annie enjoyed fishing, gardening and keeping her yard up. Also playing cards and dominoes with her grand and great grandchildren. In her retirement she was a communion minister for the church, hospital and rest home.

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin H Haverkamp 63 years of marriage on Dec. 20, 2012. A daughter Carol Hood on July 11, 2014, a grandchild Patrick Bean on Nov. 7, 1995. Her parents Ambrose and Agnes (Heinen) Wilhelm, Stepmother Ann Bernasek Wilhelm, brother Dennis Wilhelm and a sister Mary Ann Wilhelm.

Annie is survived by her children, Diane (Jim) Bean, Topeka, KS, Kathy Bohling, Johnson, NE, David (Myra) Haverkamp, Seneca, KS, Myra (Dan) Koch, Seneca, Ks. 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Three sisters, Dorothy (David) Klamn, Bonner Springs, KS, Grace (Ron) Henkenius, Bloomfield, Iowa, Carlene (Rodney) Maag, Topeka, KS, A brother Carl (Connie) Wilhelm, Topeka, KS.

A rosary will be prayed on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 7 PM at Lauer Funeral Home in Seneca. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11 AM at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, with interment at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
