Timothy J. Oliver, 72, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at his home.

He was born on June 7, 1950 in Pawnee, Oklahoma the son of Harry and Beulah Samqua Oliver. Tim went to Horton High School, Chilocco Indian School, he studied social work at Arizona State where he received his Masters of Social Work in 1980 and then Tim received his Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology at the California Baptist University.

Tim worked most recently for the Kickapoo Tribe as the director of Social Services, Acting School Superintendent for Kickapoo Nation School, Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas, Youth Development Program and previously for Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, Kickapoo Nation Health Center director, Parker Indian Health Center, Parker, Arizona, Sherman Indian High School Student Health Center, Riverside, California, PHS Indian Hospital, Winnebago, Nebraska, Little Priest Tribal College of Winnebago, Nebraska, Emporia State University, San Xavier Indian Health Center, Tucson, AZ, Aberdeen Area Bureau of Indian Affairs, Aberdeen, South Dakota, Portland Area Bureau of Indian Affairs in Portland, Oregon, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Yakima Indian Agency in Toppenish, Washington, Peach Springs Indian Health Center in Peach Springs, AZ, and PHS Indian Hospital in Pine Ridge, SD, .

He married Marichu Orayle in February 28, 2012 in the Philippines at St. Francis Xavier Parish Church and become Rocky- dad. His life with Marichu was filled with love, peace and laughter. They took their marriage vows very seriously through sickness and health. A favorite saying of Tim- was “One Day At A Time”.

Survivors include his wife, Marichu Oliver of the home; three sons, Rocky Soriano of Horton and two sons from another marriage to Anna Vargo, Thomas Oliver of Nebraska, Eric Oliver (Alice) of Nebraska; two sisters, Tawana Shopteese of Horton and Lucinda Thomas of Horton and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the Kickapoo Community Building on the Kickapoo Reservation with Father Dan Gardner presiding. Kennekuk Church Services will be held at 8:00 A.M. on Friday at the Kickapoo Community Building with burial to follow at the Kennekuk Cemetery.
