Rose then began her many years in the education field, epitomizing the true definition of “teacher”. Her 60-year teaching career began at Woodlawn Grade School in a one room schoolhouse. Not only did Rose teach, she also was very active in the school community, including pep club sponsor at Sts. Peter and Paul for 25 years. Her former students enjoyed sharing the importance of the typing skills she taught them and how they always loved to gather on Saturdays to staple the church bulletin. Rose loved her students and everyone loved “Mrs. McGeeney”.

After retiring from Sts. Peter and Paul, she began working at Nemaha Valley Grade School/Nemaha Central for 18 more years. At the age of 85, Rose retired again. What a life of dedication to education and children.
