Fred Binkley

Fred Alan Binkley went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 18, 2023. In finality of life, Fred was able to give the gift of life through organ donation. He was born April 3, 1957 to James W. Binkley and Shirley A. Tanner Binkley in Clay Center, KS.

He moved to Topeka, KS in 1974 and graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1975. On July 15, 1977 Fred married Karen K. White in Topeka and their son Adam was born in 1984.

Fred was an Auto Technician for Binkley- Tire & Service Center where he learned his trade from his uncle, Jerald Binkley. He later worked for Topeka Nissan & Bill Kobach Buick GMC until he was injured and became disabled in 1999.

Fred was a member of the Denison Bible Church and served as Deacon. He was also Chairman of the Fellowship Committee. Fred was a volunteer fireman at Denison for 9 years and coached baseball for his son, Adam. Fred hosted in his home a foreign exchange student in 2001/2002 from Venezuela.

Fred was preceded in death by his father, James W. Binkley; mother, Shirley A. Binkley Tibbits; step-father, Ben Tibbits and sisters, Nancy A. McGee and Susan Shackelford.

Survivors include his wife Karen of the home; son, Adam Binkley (Emily) and granddaughter, Adaly all of Holton; brother, Kelly Binkley (Kim) of Topeka, KS and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at the Denison Bible Church. Family will greet friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private Family Burial will be at a later date at Denison Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Adaly Binkley Educational Fund c/o Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
