Tecumseh , NE

Shawn “S.O” Larry Othmer, 49, of Tecumseh, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital after a long, tough battle with pancreatic cancer. Shawn was born in Tecumseh, Nebraska on March 13, 1974, to Larry and Delores (Neemann) Othmer. He attended Hazel Green District #41 country school through the 6th grade, St. Peter- Parochial school for seventh and eighth grade and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1992. From there, he attended Southeast Community College at Milford where he received a certificate in parts management. After graduation, Shawn began working for Field Ford in 1993 where he worked until May of 2023.

Shawn married Angie (Goracke) Othmer on January 11, 1997; their marriage welcomed two children, Shawna in 1997 and Sydnie in 2000. The couple divorced in 2005. Later, he married Annie (Hitzeman) Othmer on July 18, 2009. The couple welcomed a child, Emma in 2011.

Shawn- family meant the world to him. He loved spending all his free time with his girls and surprising Annie with bringing home new puppies…he did this not once but twice. He was a loving husband, father, papa, son, brother, uncle and friend. Shawn loved being outdoors. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, grilling, and raising sheep. He was always up for a mean game of corn hole! Shawn also loved helping all his friends and family, whether it be fixing their vehicles, tilling gardens, doing dirt work, spraying yards, and so much more. You name it and Shawn would help where he could. When it came to his grandkids, they meant the world to him. He couldn’t pass up teaching them how to dance when a good country song came on. Shawn also loved spending time on the family farm, whether it was running the tractor or grain truck, or riding along with his dad in the combine. Shawn was also a die-hard Ford fan…he always said, “Ford stands for First on Race Day!” He loved his 7.3 engines and treated his 1997 F-250 truck, “Big Red” like his baby; therefore, it never saw bad weather.

Shawn was a member of St. Peter- Lutheran Church where he was baptized, confirmed and continued to raise his family there.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Alvin and Helen Othmer and Donald and Barbara Neemann, uncle LeRoy Othmer and fiancé Robin Woltemath.
