Linda Jane Black, 75, of Overland Park, formerly of Nortonville and Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Advent Health Care Shawnee Mission Hospital.

Linda was born June 23, 1948 at Leavenworth, the daughter of Osmond Philip “Ozzie” and Helen Louise Chmidling Babcock. She was a 1966 graduate of Nortonville High School. Linda worked several years in the produce and floral dept. of Terry- Thriftway in Valley Falls. She retired in 2002 after working at Harrah- Prairie Band Casino operations since 1996. She was a member of Nortonville Pleasant Grove Christian Church. She was married to Dee Jay Black in April 1970 at Lawrence, they later divorced. Linda- happiness in life was found in her children and grandchildren and caring for those close to her and her family.

Survivors include her mother, Helen Louise Babcock, Nortonville, two sons, Nathan Samuel (Lindsay) Black, Overland Park, Andrew Osmond Black, Portland, OR, two daughters, Lisa Jane Black, Fulton, MO, Lori Jean Black (Jay Bramble), Prairie Village, two brothers, Phil (Verna) Babcock, Papillion, NE, Larry (Diane) Babcock, Nortonville, on sister, Lana (David) Aspinwall, Nortonville, six grandchildren, Justin Black, Blake Hammond, Peyton Lindsey, Landon Black, Piper Black and Jaxson Black.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Nortonville Pleasant Grove Christian Church. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 AM, an hour before service at the church.
