Eugene Allen Edelman

Eugene Allen Edelman, 81, of Sabetha, Kansas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, after a three-year battle with cancer. Eugene was surrounded by his family at his home in rural Sabetha.

Eugene was born August 21, 1942, in Sabetha, Kansas to Alphia and Emma (Stahl) Edelman. He spent his life on the family farm west of Sabetha, finding joy in being a steward of the land. He was devoted to God, his church, and his family. In early adulthood, Eugene sought the Lord in repentance and was baptized in the Christian Apostolic Church.

On January 23, 1966, Eugene was united in marriage to Judith Menold in Sabetha. Seven children were born to this union. The care that Eugene provided to his wife, Judith, during her struggle with dementia was inspiring. Even as Eugene- health declined, he appreciated the fellowship with the many individuals that he had connected with through the years.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judith, on November 1, 2020; his three sisters Karoline, Berniece, and Lena Edelman; his two brothers, Clemens and Richard; and his sister-in-law, Shirley Edelman.

Eugene is survived by his seven children, Sheila (Todd) Rokey, Lynn (Alisa) Edelman, Luci Goodman, Anita (Dwight) Rokey all of Sabetha, Wendy (Greg) Braker of Oronogo, Missouri, Marci (Darin) Grimm of Morrill, Kansas, and Steven (Kelly) Edelman of Sabetha; his 41 grandchildren; his nine great-grandchildren; his three brothers, Orin, Leonard (Anna), and Nathan (Marlene); his sister, Doris (Virgil) Meyer; and his sister-in-law, Marjorie Edelman.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Christian Apostolic Church in Sabetha. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery in Sabetha. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Christian Apostolic Church or the Nemaha County Home Health & Hospice both of Sabetha, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha Kansas 66534.
