Francis Vernon “Butch” Sheeley, Sr., 84, of Nortonville, KS, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Holton Community Hospital, Holton, KS, surrounded by his family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, January 11, 2024 at St. Ann- Catholic Church, with Father Hughes Sundeme, as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Ann- Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at St. Ann- Catholic Church with visitation following until 7:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to St. Ann- Catholic Church or the Francis Sheeley Memorial fund (Family designating at a later date) and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Butch was born June 26, 1939, in Purcell, KS, the son of Loren and Nola (Koll) Sheeley. After high school Butch worked in construction, helping build Cargil, before becoming a farmer and dairy farmer, which he did for the rest of his life. Butch was a member of the St. Ann- Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, KU basketball, driving around and talking with people and going to and spending time with his grandchildren.

Butch married Mary Ann Eckert on November 29, 1958, she preceded him on December 30, 2005. Survivors include their children, Daniel and Terri Sheeley, Effingham, KS, Jackie Reichart, Holton KS, Francis Sheeley, Jr., Holton, KS, Lana and Jim Schuetz, Holton, KS, Jennifer Van Tol, Platte City, MO, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren.

He was also preceded by his parents, an infant daughter, Andrea Jane Sheeley, five brothers, Bob Sheeley and four of which were very young, a son-in-law Steven Reichart and grandson, Austin Steven Reichart.
