Dorothy Allene Swendson, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 13, 2024. She was born in Atchison, KS on July 24, 1937. Dorothy was the daughter of Raymond Allen White and Elsie May (Bowser) White. She was a 1955 graduate of Atchison High School.

She started and ran Sonlight Christian Bookstore and worked in offices over her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her brothers: David White, Donald White, and a son: Gerald Lee Swendson.

Dorothy married Larry Wayne Swendson on May 26, 1957 at Atchison Christian Church. He survives. Other survivors include her children: Lynette (Mark) Bailey of Lakeside, CA, Dale (Karen) Swendson of Muscotah, Mike (Jodie) Swendson of Holton. 9 grandchildren: Sarah and Allison Bailey, Cale and Trace Swendson, Aaron and Lindsay Chapman, Caleb, Josiah and Rachel Swendson. 3 great grandchildren: Malakai, Isla and Emmett.

Visitation will be held at Muscotah United Church on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 10:00 am with the service following at 11:00 am with burial at Monrovia Cemetery.
