Michael “Mike” Robert McLaughlin, 74, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on April 9, 1949, in Tecumseh, Nebraska to Frank and Ruby (Holt) McLaughlin. He was raised on the family farm west of Tecumseh where he attended country school and was a member of St. Andrew- Catholic Church. On October 2, 1970, Mike was united in marriage to Dorothy Vogt in Jacksonville, North Carolina. To this union four children: Micheal, Angie, William, and Melissa were born. The couple began their marriage living with family at Camp Lejeune military base in Jacksonville, North Carolina. They moved back to Nebraska in February of 1971 where they lived in Tecumseh before moving to a home south of Humboldt, Nebraska in 1972. The couple would later divorce. Mike drove truck many years for O.A. Cooper Company which later became Master Mix. He drove truck for Wilhelm Grain and for area farmers hauling grain during harvest . Mike enjoyed fishing, spending time with his “community members” at their favorite spots, Chiefs football, and anything to do with his beloved Huskers.

Mike passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of seventy-four years, nine months, and twenty-eight days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Larry and Steve McLaughlin, and a sister Sandy Garvey.

Mike is survived by his children: Mick McLaughlin and his wife Melody of rural Humboldt, NE; Angie Koch and her husband Jason of Fayetteville, AR; Willy McLaughlin and partner Jenny Wilmott of Kearney, MO; Missy McLaughlin of Corvallis, OR; grandchildren: Kyle McLaughlin and wife Margaret of Lincoln, NE; Keely McLaughlin of Corvallis, OR; Jenna Koch of Fayetteville, AR; Kaden and Kamden McLaughlin of rural Humboldt, NE; William and Michael McLaughlin of Kearney, MO; 3 great-granddaughters Lottie, Finley, and Norah McLaughlin of Lincoln, NE; and many other relatives and friends.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the St. Andrew- Catholic Cemetery in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Father Christopher Kubat officiating.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024, at the Wherry Mortuary, 207 N. Nemaha Street in Humboldt, Nebraska. Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.
