Sadie Ruth Wingert, 79, of Winchester, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Sadie was born September 12, 1944 at Atascadero, CA, the daughter of William Archie and Elsie Dyck McKennon. She attended schools in Paso Robles, CA and college in Kansas. Sadie worked eight years at the Hallmark Card Company and another eight years wearing many hats at the F.W. Huston Medical and Geriatric Centers in Winchester. She worked another 22 years as a medical records coder for Lawrence Memorial Hospital. A master quilter, Sadie, with her daughter Jody owned and operated Aunt Sadie- Quilt Shop in Winchester for 12 years before retiring in 2017.

Sadie loved her flower beds and “digging in the dirt” as well as feeding the many wild birds that visited there. Sadie was also an accomplished landscape painter. She loved traveling with her husband Robert making many memories and simply enjoying life. Her sleeper competitive spirit revealed itself during many of the family- domino tournaments, a favorite past time during get-togethers!

She was married to John Ayers Sr. on November 23, 1961. They later divorced. She married Robert Leo Wingert on June 5, 1999 in Winchester. He survives at the home. She is also survived by a daughter, Jody (Pete) Robertson-Parrish, Winchester, a son Johnny Edward (Clarita) Ayers Jr., Tonganoxie, a step-daughter Tiffany Kuester, Lawrence and one brother, Fred McKennon Waxhaw, North Carolina. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela LeAnn Ayers, a beloved son-in-law John Robertson, one brother William McKennon, a sister Helen Williams and seven unborn dearly loved grand babies.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Friday, April 19, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of McLouth. Burial will be at Winchester-Wise Cemetery, Winchester. Visitation will be 12:00 - 2:00 pm, Friday, April 19 before services at the church. Memorials suggested to Jefferson County Friends of Hospice in care of Barnett Family Funeral Home, P.O.
