Waller P. “Spike” Spiker, Jr.

Waller P. “Spike” Spiker, Jr., 90, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at his home.

He was born December 15, 1933, the son of Waller P. Spiker, Sr. and Lena Banks Spiker. He graduated from Mayetta High School in 1952.

Spike had worked most of his life as a truck driver for the Holton Truck Line. He also farmed and raised cattle. In his earlier years he had operated the elevator during the construction of Stormont-Vail Hospital, worked in the water department for the Sunflower Ordnance Plant, and in construction for Pat Hershey.

He married Marilyn Bostwick on November 24, 1956 in Topeka. She survives, of the home.

Spike was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Vernon Spiker, who died in infancy, Bernard Spiker and Dorman Spiker, and a sister, Pearl Fulkerson.

Other survivors include four sons, Michael Spiker, Whiting, Lonnie Spiker (Sandy), Circleville, Les Spiker, Mayetta and Alan Spiker, Holton, six grandchildren, Travis (Blake), Ashley (Corey), Dakota, Mandy (Matt), Sam and Casey, and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton. Spike will lie in state after 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home, where a visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Holton Community Hospital Hospice or the American Cancer Society, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 1034, Holton, KS 66436.
