Barbara (Benton) Windsor, affectionately known as Barb to her family and friends, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Sunday, May 26th, 2024, at the Atchison Senior Village.

Barb was born November 25th, 1930, in Boonville, Missouri, the daughter of Sanford and Gladys (Nevins) Benton. She graduated from Boonville High School in 1948. On June 17, 1949, she married Gillis Jack Windsor in Boonville, MO. Jack preceded her in death on Dec. 27th, 2000. They raised two children together, D. Mark (Cyreesa) Windsor Atchison, KS and N. Lynn (John) Hixon of Cortez, CO. Barb took pleasure in her role as grandmother to Averie (John) Chapman, Fairway, KS and Benton Trace Fitchett of Montrose, Co. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren. Barb leaves behind one sister, Shirley Delbert, Columbia, MO. and niece Jennifer (Perry) Boone, St. Louis, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Delores Ann Benton.

Over their careers and 51 years of marriage, Barb and Jack resided in five states. While living in Las Vegas, NM, Barb was affiliated with Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority. She was also a member of the Atchison Junior guild and Lady Elks organizations.

Barb began her professional career with AT&T, Boonville, MO. Following the move to Atchison, she worked for Exchange National Bank and Trust Co., running the Security Insurance department for several years. Barb especially enjoyed her 30-year employment with John VanDyke at State Farm Insurance in Atchison.

Barb liked antiquing and was an avid brick collector owning several hundred advertising and pattern bricks. Anyone who knew Barb knew her true passion was dogs. She loved all dogs and owned many breeds over her lifetime, training and loving each and every one that was lucky enough to have called her their owner.

A graveside service and burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024, with Rev. Mark Martin officiating, at Memorial Park Cemetery, Columbia, MO., where she and her husband Jack, will be laid to rest together. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Atchison Humane Society and may be sent in care of Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.
