Doris Schimke, 90, of Falls City, NE, passed away June 8, 2024 at Falls City.

She was born on farm 6 miles north of Verdon, NE on November 19, 1933 to Walter and Marie (Kiel) Behr. She was baptized into God's family in December of 1933 and was confirmed into the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod at Saint Paul's 6 miles north of Falls City in March of 1947. She attended several rural schools in Richardson County and spent 2 years at St. Paul's Lutheran School. During these years she lived on various farms with her parents. Late in 1946 the family moved to Shubert, NE. She attended and graduated us Valedictorian of the class Of 1951. She met and married Noble Davis in 1952.

The Davis's made their home in Falls City where they resided until 1984 when Noble passed away in April of 1984.

In 1985 Doris married Walter Schimke of Ridgecrest, CA where they made their home until 1988 when they moved to a quiet acreage north of Buffalo, MO. In 1998 they moved to Bolivar, MO to be closer to their church home and their friends in the faith.

Doris loved to sew and work with her friends at the church. While a member at Zion Lutheran in Bolivar, she served many roles including financial secretary, choir director, president, treasurer and recording secretary of the ladies' guild. They remained in Bolivar until Walter's passing in 2005 and then in 2007 she returned to Falls City. Back to Christ Lutheran, back to sewing, back to the things she had always done in her lifetime.

Doris is survived by her children. Noble Wayne (Vicky) Davis of Clarinda, IA. Kevin (Lynne) Davis of Falls City, Judy (Dick) Gilkerson of Falls City, Steven Davis of Roca, NE, Linda (Joe) Pekarek of Osceola, MO, and Bradley (Sherry) Davis of Lincoln, NE, as well as 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a child in infancy and a granddaughter, Joselyn Mane Kennell, daughter of Steven Davis.

These all anxiously await the return of their Savior when we shall all arise and be reunited in the glorious heavenly kingdom of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Her memorial service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Warneke officiating. Inurnment will be in Steele Cemetery.
