Kay Schmille, 74, longtime Hiawatha resident, went to meet her Lord and Savior June 11, 2024 at her home surrounded by family.

Kay was born February 11, 1950, at Lebanon, Missouri, the daughter of James and Charlene McCoy Williams. She grew up at Lebanon where she attended schools, graduating high school there in 1967.

Kay worked as a receptionist, billing and file clerk for Hiawatha Community Hospital and Family Practice for many years, also for the Brown County Health Department. She was dedicated, trustworthy, enjoyed her work…you could tell as she always had a smile on her face. She worked as a waitress at the Maple Leaf Restaurant where she met her husband Claude. The rest is history! They married in Hiawatha May 31, 1995.

She was a longtime member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God in Hiawatha and was very active within the Church by serving as treasurer/secretary and was a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include her husband Claude, her children: Brook Pace, Philip Ingram (Holly); and step-sons Mike Schmille and Ben Schmille (Shannon).

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Brandon Pace, and son Paul Ingram.

A Celebration of Kay- Eternal Life is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God with Pastor Jim Farris officiating. Cremation will follow services.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to services at Church.
