Dale E. Strobel, 97, of Hiawatha, died June 12, 2024.

He was born in Hiawatha, Kansas on May 11, 1927 to Orin and Lena (Lange) Strobel. He graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1945, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945 and served until January 1947. In May 1947 he married Yola Bee Brown. They moved to Emporia, Kansas where he attended Emporia State College to become a teacher. He graduated in May 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. He taught in Eureka, Kansas for 7 years. The family moved to Newton, Kansas where Dale worked in the insurance business. The family moved to Hiawatha, Kansas in 1959 where he worked in the insurance business and the U.S. Post Office. In 1964 he returned to teaching in Powhattan, Kansas, teaching and receiving his Master- Degree in Education in Counseling at Emporia State College in 1967. At that time the family moved to Plattsmouth, Nebraska, where Dale was a guidance counselor for 22 years. He was also Director of Head Start for 15 years. He received Outstanding Educator Award in 1972. He retired in 1989 and moved to Hiawatha, Kansas.

Dale was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Hiawatha serving as elder with the Christian Life Committee.

Dale had been a member of the Hiawatha Lion's Club, Brown County Historical Society, Hiawatha American Legion, and Hiawatha Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Yola Bee (2015), daughter Dea Strobel (2020), five brothers, James Fraley, Morris Fraley, Henry Fraley, Harvey Strobel, and Orin Strobel, two sisters, Virginia Rudey and Agnes Lacy.

He is survived by one daughter, Doris (Larry) Kneisel, Hiawatha, KS, and four sons, Denis (Chris) Strobel, Bluffton, SC, Dewey Strobel, Valmeyer, IL, Daren (Shari) Strobel, Owatonna, MN, Dana Strobel (Tracy Powell) Plattsmouth (Beaver Lake) NE, ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

On Monday, June 17, 2024, the family will receive friends at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home from 5 pm to 7 p.m. A Celebration of Dale's Eternal Life will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 11 A.M., at the Zion Lutheran Church, Hiawatha with burial next to his beloved wife Bee at Hiawatha Cemetery. Pastor Brian Holle will officiate. Friends may call the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home after 10 am. Monday, June 17th. Rest easy Dale!
