Larry Othmer, 74 of rural Tecumseh, died Sat. June 15, 2024

Larry Gene Othmer was born December 1, 1949 to Alvin and Helen Heidemann (Othmer) in Tecumseh, Nebraska. He was baptized December 18, 1949 and confirmed March 22, 1964 at St. Peter- Lutheran Church. Larry attended Hazel Green rural school through the 6th grade and then St. Peter- Parochial School for 7th and 8th grade. Larry went to Elk Creek High School and graduated with the class of 1968. After graduation, Larry enlisted in the Army Reserves for 6 years, while also entering the partnership with his father and brothers Les and LeRoy to form Alvin Othmer and Sons which eventually became Othmer Brother Farms.

He was united in marriage to Delores Neemann on January 2, 1972. To this union two children were born, Shawn and DeeAnn. Larry- love and respect for farming kept him busy until his health began to fail. He took great pride in his work and all of the land, equipment, and assets he acquired over the years. In his spare time his interests included watching his kids and grandkids athletic events, storytelling, polka dancing, playing cards, exploring history, socializing, and spending time with friends and family. He will forever be known for his quick wittedness, pranks, and his strong will to fight through all of life- adversity.

He passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024 at his home at the earthly age of 74 years.

Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Delores, daughter DeeAnn Richardson and husband Harold, daughter-in-law Annie Othmer, grandchildren, Shawna Thompson and husband Hunter, Sydnie Othmer and fiance' Tevin Rosekrans, Andrew Richardson, Macy Richardson and Emma Othmer, great-grandchildren, Paisley Rosekrans and Jaxson Thompson, brother Les Othmer and wife Lois, brother-in-law Delton Neemann and wife Rachelle, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Helen, brother LeRoy, son Shawn and parents-in-law Donald and Barbara Neemann.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at the St. Peter- Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska with Rev. Bill Cornelius officiating. The church will also livestream the service.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2024 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

Memorials may go to the family- choice.

Interment will be in the St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery, rural Elk Creek, Nebraska with full military honors by the Tracy-Bates American Legion Post #370 of Elk Creek.
