Donna Lee Gibson Cummings Slavens, 85, Valley Falls, Kansas died February 19, 2025 at Village Villa Nursing Center, Nortonville, Kansas.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Meinrad Miller, OSB officiating. Visitation with the family will be for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Mrs. Slavens will be cremated following the services with burial of the cremated remains at a later date in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Nortonville, Kansas.
Donna was born June 5, 1939 in Axtell, Kansas the daughter of Paul and Gladys Parli Gibson. She attended school in Winchester, Kansas.
She and Leo Dean Cummings were united in marriage and later divorced. She then united in marriage to Paul Slavens in 1987 in Oskaloosa, Kansas. Mr. Slavens preceded her in death.
Donna worked at Hallmark Cards in Lawrence, Kansas and later served as a cook at restaurants and nursing homes in Nortonville and Lawrence. She also served as a cook for Hyvee.
In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, drawing, and working word search puzzles.
Survivors include three sons, Dennis Cummings, Valley Falls, KS, Randall Cummings, Minneapolis, MN, Patrick Cummings, Oskaloosa, KS, three daughters, Linda Gooch, Denison, KS, Peggy Parker, Olathe, KS, Nancy Botkin, Simpsonville, SC, fifteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Slavens; two daughters, Dee Dee Cummings Rule and Joan Cummings Phillips; a brother, George Gibson, and three half-sisters.
