Steven Duane Avery was born to Neal Orlando Avery and Adella Emily Shinn on February 1, 1941, at Pawnee City, Nebraska, and passed away away on March 25, 2025, at Pawnee County Memorial Hospital at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 24 days.

Steve went to country school #66 and than to Pawnee City High School, graduating in 1958. He joined the Army Reserves and received an honorable discharge. In 1962 he married Mildred Schnepp, and they had one daughter, Rhonda.

Steve enjoyed farming and keeping his farm in good shape. He always had a deep spiritual interest and belief in God. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1975. He was very active in serving God Jehovah.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Neal and Adella Avery. He is survived by wife Mildred, their daughter, Rhonda and a cousin Alice Shinn Albers of Chicago, nieces and nephews and many friends. He meant a great deal to many, and he will be missed.

Celebration of Life will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the DuBois Community Building, DuBois, Nebraska, with Pastor Robert McLellan saying a few words. Memorials to family's choice.
