Ashton M. Nanninga, age 28 of Nebraska City (formerly Humboldt, NE) passed away on June 25, 2025 in Nebraska City.

Ashton Marie Nanninga was born on May 13, 1997 in Council Bluff, IA; the daughter of Rod Aaron and Tara Kaye (Stukenholtz) Nanninga. She grew up and attended school in Humboldt, graduating from Humboldt/Table Rock/Steinauer (HTRS) High School with the Class of 2015. She then attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she obtained her Bachelor of English/Journalism/Media Communication in 2019.

Upon graduation, Ashton lived and worked in Omaha for Financial Transmission Network as their marketing manager. She continued to enjoy this work as she moved to Nebraska City in 2022 to be closer to family. There, she was able to begin the job she truly loved, designing and creating specialty cakes, through her cottage bakery, Cake 'n Crumb.

Ashton was the beloved daughter, sister, and friend who enjoyed training for and running marathons, caring for her dog, Winnie, participating in community activities to include PEO, Rotary, Chamber of commerce, and youth coaching.

Ashton is survived by her parents Rod and Tara Nanninga of Nebr. City, NE; brother Grant Nanninga and his wife Claire of Omaha, NE and sister Lauren Nanninga of Orlando, FL; maternal grandma Judy Stukenholtz of Nebr. City, NE and paternal grandpa Chuck Nanninga Humboldt, NE; aunts and uncles and their families: Matt and Renee Stukenholtz, Mark and Abby Stukenholtz, Jill and Charlie Heng, Brett and Sally Nanninga, Julie and Jonathon Showalter and Kip and Pearl Nanninga; many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by maternal grandpa John Stukenholtz, paternal grandma Carol Jean Nanninga, cousins: Dawn Stukenholtz and Gabriel Showalter.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Calvary Community Church in Nebr. City with Pastors Chris Hanley and Daniel Evertson officiating.

Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
