Ralph Farrel Holliday

Ralph Farrel Holliday, 74, of Soldier, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Stormont Vail in Topeka.

Farrel was born July 3, 1939 in Soldier the son of Floyd and Coral (Shell) Holliday. He graduated from Soldier High School in 1957 and later graduated from K-State in 1962 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Agricultural Education. Farrel was a dairy farmer and owned and operated his family farm. He also taught for 7 years at Morrowville and Soldier High Schools and Havensville Elementary School. Farrel was a member of the Soldier Christian Church, Jackson Heights School Board for 20 years and a member of the Soil Conservation District Board for 6 years.

On June 2, 1961 Farrel married Ruth Ann Proctor at Soldier Methodist Church. She survives of the home. He is also survived by: his sons, Jon Holliday (fiancée, Missy), David Holliday (Kelly) and Dennis Holliday (Laura) all of Soldier; his brothers, Forrest Holliday (Donna) of Havensville and Felix Holliday (Kathy) of Smithville, MO; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donelda Holliday in 1949, his brother, Floyd Melvin Holliday in 1970 and his granddaughter, Carissa Holliday in 1999.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2013 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Interment will follow in Soldier Cemetery. The family will greet friends Sunday at the funeral home from 4:00-6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Soldier Christian Church and may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O.
