Cal Rogers
Rulo, NE
Cal Rogers, 87, of Rulo, NE, passed away February 1, 2012 at Rulo. He was born February 14, 1924 at Rock Port, MO to the late Melvin and Ella (Howell) Rogers.
He enlisted in the U. S. Army on February 3, 1943 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS. He served during World War II at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He earned four bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious SV Unit Plaque, and Distinguished Unit Badge. He was honorably discharged on December 7, 1945.
He married Geraldine Cook and they were later divorced. He then married Lucille Hall in 1968 at Las Vegas, NV.
Mr. Rogers was raised in the Rock Port & Craig, MO areas. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and following his discharge he returned to Craig & farmed; later he worked in construction & then worked in the Salvage Business. He owned Rogers Tavern in Rulo, NE for a number of years. Member of American Legion Post #102, Falls City and the Masonic Lodge #139 A.F. & A.M. of Oregon, MO.
Cal is survived by his wife Lucille of Rulo, sons, Jerry “Jake” and his wife Gwen of Eudora, KS, Calvin, Jr. and his wife Debbie, Steven and his wife Carol both of Oregon, MO, Gene and his wife Colette of Craig, MO, Russell of Portland, OR, daughters, Donna Boyd of Rock Springs, WY, Annie Purssman and husband Curt of Craig, MO, Susan Peterscheim of Higginsville, MO, twenty grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a dog, Jake. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Floyd officiating. Inurnment will be in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery at Craig at a later date. Masonic services by Masonic Lodge #139 A. F. & A. M. of Oregon.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 7-8:00 PM at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home.
The family prefers memorials to Richardson County Humane Society or Community Medical Center in lieu of flowers.
