Donald Hamlin
Formerly of Holton, KS

Donald Lee Hamlin, 85 of Topeka formerly of Holton died Sunday February 5, 2012 at Lexington Park in Topeka. He was born on April 19, 1926 in Circleville, KS, the son of Ralph James and Erma A. Myers Hamlin. Don served in the US Army during WW II and Korea, he later retired from the Army National Guard as a Sgt. Major after 32 years of service. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #1367 in Holton. He was a member of Quivira Heights Church of Christ in Topeka. Don married Mary Lois Quinn on August 11, 1951 in Highwood, IL. She preceded him in death in 1965. He later married Donna Mae Jackson on August 2, 1968 in Holton. She preceded him in death on January 22, 1988. He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert and Kenneth Hamlin, a sister, Bonnie Burns and a grandson, Ryan Scott Hamlin. Don is survived by his children, Mary Ann Hamlin of Topeka, KS, Deborah Kern (David) of Strafford, MO, Ellen Bouye (Jim) of Edmond, OK, Nancy Preslar (Jim) of Blanchard, OK, Ralph Hamlin of Boulder, CO and David Hamlin (Darla) of Hollister, MO; a brother, Richard Hamlin of Circleville, KS; 8 grandchildren, Bobby Lee Kern (Lisa), April Williams (Brent), Josh Bouye, Amanda Kern, Danielle Little (Nick), Maegan Bouye, Nick Preslar, Kara Preslar; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
