L. Mildred (Thompson) Anderson, 91, Wathena, Kansas died Monday, December 30, 2013 at Wathena Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Wathena, Kansas.
Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, January 3, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church with Abbot Barnabas Senecal as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Troy, Kansas. A parish rosary will be recited on Thursday, Jan. 2nd at 6:30 P.M. at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas with visitation to follow until 8:30 P.M. Memorial contributions are suggested to Children’s Mercy Hospital or Alzheimer’s Association and may be left in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com.
Mildred was born November 29, 1922 in Troy, Kansas the daughter of Reuben and Myrtle Sandy Thompson. She attended schools in Troy, Kansas.
She and Joseph J. Anderson were united in marriage on August 22, 1949 in Carroll County, Arkansas. Mr. Anderson preceded her in death on December 17, 1999.
Mildred was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother to her children. She was formerly a member of St. John’s Church, Doniphan, Kansas and later St. Benedict’s Church, Atchison, Kansas. Her passion in life was caring for children. She enjoyed reading in her spare time and listening to music.
Survivors include a daughter, Lisa (Tim) Smith, Wathena, KS, four sons, Joe R. (Jovita) Anderson, Atchison, KS, Jerry (Charlotte) Anderson, Troy, KS, Jeff Anderson, Atchison, KS, Mike (Itsy)Anderson, Atchison, KS , two sisters, Donna Plummer, Savanah, MO, Barbara Myers, Independence, MO, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Thompson, and four brothers, Robert Thompson, Edgar Thompson, Curtis Thompson and Ray Thompson.
