Eldon D. Ferrell

Eldon D. Ferrell, 79, Topeka, formerly of Valley Falls, died Friday, December 27, 2013, at Snowflake, AZ.

He was born on Nov. 27, 1934, at Muscotah, the son of Larkin E. and Ida Geneva Ray Ferrell. He graduated from Valley Falls High School. He served in the US Army.

Eldon had worked in the landscaping department at the University of Kansas campus at Lawrence. He had also worked at the Baker Quarry and Ferrell Trash Service, both in Valley Falls, and at Rockwell Manufacturing at Atchison.

He married Gladys Elaine Tipton on July 14, 1957, at Topeka.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine, of the home; three sons, Rick (Tamie) Ferrell, Valley Falls, Bryon (Lisa) Ferrell, Overbrook, and David (Sandi) Ferrell, Snowflake, AZ; a brother, Ray Curtis Ferrell, Warren, Rhode Island; a sister, Sandy Pfeffer, Valley Falls; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at the Valley Falls United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Valley Falls Cemetery with military honors by Grahem-Herbers Post 3084 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
