Eldon Eugene Gibbs, 82, of Horton, Kansas, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on February 24, 1931 in White Cloud, Kansas the son of Edmund Joseph and Viola Elizabeth Richards Gibbs. Eldon retired from the Air Force in 1971 and then became a self employed carpenter. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and lifetime member of the Horton VFW. On January 20, 1951 he married Mary Fay Taylor in St. Joseph, Missouri. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a daughter, Kathy Faye Gibbs of Horton, Kansas; son, Michael (Myong) Gibbs of Clarksville, Tennessee; three brothers, Raymond Gibbs of Phoenix, Arizona, Gordon Gibbs of Newburg, Oregon and Marvin Dean Gibbs of Eudora, Kansas; two sisters, Mildred West of Blytheville, Arkansas and Alice Killion of Raymore, Missouri; one granddaughter and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton, Kansas. Burial will be at the Horton Cemetery.
