Norma Jean Derrick Kroh

Norma Jean Derrick Kroh, 84, of Wamego, died Wednesday evening, January 1, 2014, at Wamego Health Center, Wamego, KS, after suffering a stroke.
She was born January 7, 1929, on a farm northeast of Hiawatha, the middle of three daughters of Orban Earl and Marie Louise Mueller Derrick, and lived in Hiawatha as a homemaker and mother until moving to Wamego in 2009. She graduated from Hiawatha High School with the class of 1947. Although her right hand was crippled, she enjoyed crocheting with a device she had invented, for which she received U. S. Patent 4,370,870.
Mrs. Kroh was a longtime member of the Church of Christ of Hiawatha, and the Hiawatha VFW Auxiliary Post #5210.
Norma was married to Donald Eldon Kroh on November 25, 1951, who died in 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are two sons: David Eugene Kroh of Hiawatha, and Franklin Orban Kroh and wife Cinderella of Wamego; two grandsons Jacob Mark and Andrew Jonathan Kroh of Wamego; and two sisters, Ruth Kaufman, of Overland Park, KS, and Joan Schureman, of Murrieta, CA.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan.4, at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Brian Cobb will officiate. Interment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.
The family will meet with friends at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
