GREENSBURG- Justin Tyler Kennedy, 26, of Greensburg, KS formerly of Holton, passed away April 18, 2014 in Hays as the result of a vehicle accident. He was born September 29, 1987 in Holton, the son of Paul Bernard and Janet Elaine (Kimmi) Kennedy.

Justin graduated from Holton High School in 2006. He attended Hutchinson Community College for 2 years earning an Associates Degree in Fire Science. Justin had lived most of his life in Holton and three years in Greensburg. He worked for Mandan Oil Field Service, LLC as a heavy equipment operator. Justin was a Volunteer Firefighter in Greensburg and was a Fireman for 18 months. He also worked for Oldham’s/Banner Creek LLC in Holton and had enjoyed farming with his father.

Justin was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton and a member of Duck’s Unlimited.

Survivors include his parents, Paul and Janet Kennedy of Mayetta, maternal grandmother, Mary Catherine Kimmi of Holton; a sister, Beth Smith (Jason) of Holton; 2 brothers, Jason Kennedy (Melissa) of Kansas City, KS and Caleb Kennedy (Sarah) of Holton; 4 nieces, Lorna and Kennedy Smith and Jordan and Rory Kennedy; a nephew, Jase Kennedy and his companion, Kari Neilson and her son, Bentley of Greensburg.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Bernard and Doris Kennedy and maternal grandfather, Warren Kimmi.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Holton. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Holton. Family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.
