Charles " Chuck" Garber Sr.

Charles T. “Chuck” Garber, Sr., 94, of Sabetha, Kansas died Saturday, April 19, 2014 in Marysville, Kansas. He was born on April 12, 1920 the son of Andrew F. Garber and Anna H. (Hartter) Garber in the Berwick Community.
He attended the Berwick School completing the 8th grade. He worked on the family farm until enlisting in the Army in 1941. While military service he completed Bombardier School and training as an Airplane Mechanic. He achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant and was Crew Chief of airplane maintenance, a job he loved dearly and talked about often. After leaving the service in 1945, he returned home. After many jobs, he worked as the Transportation Supervisor for the Public School System, where he retired.
He was blessed with many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kathy and a grandson, Tom, Jr. and all his siblings except Edward Graber of Sabetha. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. A visitation will be Wednesday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. The interment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Sabetha V.F.W. Post #7285.
