Bertha M. Sabbert
Hiawatha Native , KS

Bertha M. Sabbert, 84, St. Joseph, Missouri died Friday, March 9, 2012 at a local healthcare facility.

She was born October 1, 1927 to George A. and Mildred V. (Buckley) Legler in Hiawatha, Kansas.

She married Marvin L. Sabbert November 30, 1947.

She was the CFO for White Cloud Grain Company.

Mrs. Sabbert was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church, PEO, Sweet Adelines and Order of Eastern Star for which she was a past Worthy Matron and Kansas State Delegate.

Bertha was very creative exhibiting her artistry through cooking, painting, decorating and writing. She was always a community volunteer and leader.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Martha Schafman.

Survivors: her husband, Marvin Sabbert; four children, Richard Sabbert (Sheri), St. Charles, Missouri, Judith Sabbert, St. Joseph, Bernard Sabbert (Angela), St. Joseph and Douglas Sabbert, Olathe, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services:  10:00 A.M. Wednesday, Ashland United Methodist Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.  The Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory where friends may call after 5:00 PM Tuesday. The Family suggests memorial gifts to Heartland Foundation, 518 S. 6th St., St. Joseph, Missouri 64501. Mrs. Sabbert will be removed from Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory to arrive at the church one hour prior to the service.
