The First United Methodist Church of Hiawatha, KS is currently looking for a Music Director/Organist to begin on Monday, May 27, 2019.

As organist, play hymns, prelude, postlude, offertory, communion and special music accompaniment (on piano where called for) each Sunday

Rehearse with choir and accompany same on Sunday mornings during choir season.

Accompanies the Chancel Choir in its weekly rehearsals and regularly scheduled worship services each Sunday, Church holy days as scheduled, and such other special services and occasions as may be required for the advancement of the ministry of the church.

Rehearse special music with soloists or ensembles at agreed upon rehearsal times.

Be available for weddings, wedding rehearsals, and funerals at FUMC.

Help to arrange for a substitute organist when unavailable.

Enhance the musicians’ ability to sing together and inspire the congregation through music ministry.

Schedule special music during the summer months.

Responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of musical instruments. 

Participate in monthly worship committee meetings with musicians, singers and Pastor, as well as monthly staff meetings.

Ensure administrative tasks associated with the music program are accomplished.

Experience: 1-year church experience
Qualifications:
Proficient on pipe organ, piano or keyboard with choral group experience.
Enthusiastic and organized.
Excellent personal communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) are essential.
Must work with the Pastor, musicians, and other worship leaders to enhance the worship experience for the congregation of FUMC.
