Quarterly EDGE Report Submitted
04/24/2015

(KLZA)-- Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise Executive Director Beckie Cromer presented the quarterly report to the City Council in Falls City and to the Richardson County Commissioners this week.

Cromer reported that in the first quarter of 2015 EDGE received several opportunities through the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.  However, Falls City was unable to meet the needs of any of the three companies since all three were looking for existing buildings.

There are opportunities available for entrepreneurs that would like to operate their own business.  Sam & Louies, a New York style Pizza and Pasta restaurant,  NAPA Auto Parts and Waddell and Reed have indicated they would like to open locations in Falls City.  All three are looking for persons interested in opening and operating a franchise.

In the Falls City Industrial area the first quarter of 2015 proved to be another period of job growth.  It was the third consecutive quarter with higher employment numbers.  WASP added six employees bringing the total workforce to 117. Herzog added 15 workers bringing the total number of employees in Falls City to 50. In the past nine months Falls City industries have added 55 jobs.

In February Cromer, EDGE President Bart Keller and City Administrator Gary Jorn paid a corporate visit to Gold Star Sausage in Colorado.  The company continues to work toward getting their new Falls City location up and running. The plan is still to open in the first part of 2015.

The company is planning expanded product lines in the future at the Falls City plant to allow the company to grow their national distribution as well as capitalize on export.
