NEK-CAP, Inc. Head Start has been awarded funding to provide a 6.5 hour school day and 160 days of school in Sabetha, Kansas at our Nemaha-Sabetha County Head Start Center. Head Start, a nationally known research-based preschool program, is a center-based program serving three to five-year olds. This program is available at no cost to those who are income-eligible. Head Start programs support children’s growth and development in positive learning environments through a variety of services including social skills and school readiness skills building, health and developmental screenings, nutritious meals, oral health and mental health, and family well-being – strengthening child and parent relationships.

You will want to apply quickly as enrollment slots will fill quickly and we want you and your child to be served at Head Start in the upcoming year! Documents needed to complete an application: All this information is kept confidential, except for financial audits and state/federal reviews…

• Proof of Income –2019 tax forms or pay stubs or public assistance
• Child’s Birth Certificate (if available)
• Immunization Records

Head Start is administered by the Office of Head Start within the Administration of Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Eligibility is based on income as set by the federal government.  NEK-CAP, Inc. provides Head Start in Atchison, Brown, Jackson, Jefferson, Leavenworth, Marshall, Nemaha and Pottawatomie Counties in Northeast Kansas. NEK-CAP, Inc. reserves 10% of its enrollment for children with disabilities.
