Brown County Conservation District Offering Scholarships
The Brown County Conservation District is offering scholarships for any Brown County teacher wanting the opportunity to learn more about Agriculture and Conservation education.
The scholarship will be for a hands-on summer course for teachers hosted by Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom (KFAC). The course will be held June 11-15 at Kansas State University in Manhattan, and participants will receive three hours of graduate credit. Hands-on experiences in and out of the classroom will combine to assist participants in learning how agriculture can be integrated into all subjects. Participants will receive standards-based resource materials for all subjects and will have the opportunity to tour several agricultural operations and interact with Kansas producers. The conservation district will provide $200 for up to 3 teachers to attend. There are additional full-tuition scholarships available directly through Kansas Ag in the Classroom with an application deadline of May 2. For more information, visit www.ksagclassroom.org/teachers/summergrad.html.
The scholarships will be filled on a first come, first serve basis. Please contact Vicki at 785-742-2012 ext 31or stop by the Brown county Conservation District office located in the USDA Service Center at 1310 Oregon St, Hiawatha, KS. You can also e-mail Vicki at vicki.goertzen@ks.nacdnet.net.
