Cool and cloudy weather conditions didn’t deter Falls City’s Arbor Day celebration Sunday afternoon.
The centerpiece of the program was a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the first plantings at the Itha Krumme Memorial Arboretum.  Folks who came to the arboretum Sunday afternoon enjoyed a program with music by the Clefsmen and the Falls City Brass Ensemble.
Arboretum Curator Gerald Hopp welcomed visitors and gave a brief history of the arboretum.  (play audio   :59   “tremendously.”)
Also as part of the program, Libby Bauman read a poem she had written, and City Clerk Gary Jorn read a Mayoral Proclamation designating Sunday as Arbor Day.  Jorn also thanked those who have donated trees that were planted at Falls City parks in the past year.  (play audio   :52   “Mary Lynn Jessup.”)
Sunday’s program was the first of several events planned this year to honor the arboretum’s 20th anniversary.  The next event is a concert by Terry Campbell, scheduled for May 20th.
